Kultum#3 "Peaceful Propagation: Fostering Unity Amid Diversity"

 Assalamu'alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh,

All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all worlds, and may His peace and blessings be upon the noblest of messengers, and upon his family and all of his companions. To proceed,

Hello, dear friends whom I hold dear,

It is truly a joy to gather with all of you here. On this occasion, let's discuss something extremely important in Islam: "Peaceful Propagation: Fostering Unity Amid Diversity." May we learn together and gain valuable insights from this discussion.

Dear friends, we are well aware that Indonesia is home to a multitude of ethnicities, cultures, and faiths. While this is a wonderful aspect, it can also present challenges. The question is: How can we coexist harmoniously and respect each other despite our differences? Let's explore the answers together.

In Islam, we are taught to embrace peace. Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is an exceptional role model in this regard. There is a verse in the Quran, specifically Surah Al-Hujurat, verse 13, which states:

"O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Acquainted."

From this verse, we can glean the lesson that knowing and respecting one another is crucial. Allah has created us from various backgrounds to enable mutual understanding and learning. The best among us, in the eyes of Allah, are those who possess the best character.

Additionally, in Surah Al-Ankabut, verse 46, Allah SWT says:

"And do not argue with the People of the Scripture except in a way that is best, except for those who commit injustice among them, and say, 'We believe in that which has been revealed to us and revealed to you. And our God and your God is one; and we are Muslims [in submission] to Him.'"

This verse teaches us to communicate kindly and courteously with those who hold different beliefs, especially friends who belong to the People of the Book (Jews and Christians).

Allah instructs us not to engage in harsh arguments or hurt their feelings. Allah encourages us to converse in the best possible manner. It's similar to when we have disagreements with friends; it's better to talk in a good way rather than getting angry.

Furthermore, Allah teaches us to believe in what has been revealed to us (the Quran) and what has been revealed to our Jewish and Christian friends (their scriptures). Despite the differences in the scriptures, Allah remains the One and the same for everyone. We should acknowledge that we all worship the same Allah, even though our methods may differ.

The essence of this message is that we should speak kindly to others, respect differences, and acknowledge that we all worship the same Allah. This is crucial for maintaining unity and harmony amidst diversity.

In addition, there is a hadith from Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) that says:

"Whoever does not believe in the Book of Allah and does not judge by what Allah has revealed, then he is not from us."

This hadith reminds us to always follow the teachings of Allah in the Quran. This is essential for maintaining unity within Islam and also within our lives in Indonesia. Through this, we can live harmoniously despite our differences.

Dear friends, in our daily lives, we can engage in peaceful propagation by being friendly, tolerant, and helpful to one another. We can apply these principles during special occasions such as Indonesia's Independence Day. Remember, the independence we celebrate is the result of collective struggle, without focusing on differences.

As we conclude, let us pray to Allah for the continued safety, peace, and happiness of Indonesia, with a spirit of unity and diversity. Ameen.

Peace and blessings be upon you all.
